Assistant Sheet Metal Riding Superintendent

Work Hours: 40+ hours per week, overtime as required

Pay Range: $39-$44 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary: The Assistant Sheet Metal Riding Superintendent supports the Sheet Metal Riding Superintendent in managing all on-site mechanical construction activities, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and production. This role supervises sheet metal mechanics and apprentices, ensures efficient execution of work, and helps deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all job sites
  • Assist in supervising sheet metal crews across multiple projects
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents
  • Plan and coordinate daily work activities and manpower needs
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications
  • Assist with material planning, procurement, and tool management
  • Maintain daily reports, documentation, and project updates
  • Support scheduling, pre-planning, and fabrication coordination
  • Monitor subcontractors and jobsite progress
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, field teams, and customers
  • Mentor and support mechanics and apprentices
  • Help ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical contracting, with strong sheet metal background
  • Proven experience supervising teams on construction job sites
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial/industrial projects
  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
  • Strong knowledge of local codes, tools, and sheet metal systems
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Procore preferred)
  • Ability to plan manpower and manage multiple priorities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs
  • Work in construction environments, including varying weather and site conditions
